Our Engagement ~ Michelle & Bob
Michelle and I are happy to announce our engagement which happened on Friday, August 4, 2006 at 5:00 p.m. at Morrow-Farrar Jewelers in Camp Hill, PA. This was a complete surprise to Michelle.

Please Enjoy the Narrative & Pictures Below

Shortly after we met (and we met on a Friday around 5:00 p.m.), Michelle shared with me that when she became engaged all she wanted was a lime green gummy Lifesaver as a ring. So, when we walked into the jewelry store the front display was filled with gummy Lifesavers, none of them green, surrounded by sunflower heads. The green Lifesaver was in a ring box in my pocket.

Sunflowers are Michelle's favorite flower. Robin at a Garden Bouquet in Mechanicsburg drove to Dillsburg to hand cut sunflowers for this moment. She did a great job with the arrangements. When we walked into the jewelry store there were sunflowers everywhere.
* Two large vases were on the columns up front.
* Numerous sunflower heads decorated the inside of the front case which held the Lifesaver display.
* Two medium vases flanked the engagement ring display.
* Six large sunflower heads highlighted Michelle's ring which sat on top of a beautiful piece of material and in the sunflower dish that we painted together the week before at Color Me Mine.
* Six small vases full of sunflowers sat around the jewelry store.
* Each member of the jewelry store staff wore a small individual sunflower corsage.
* Once Michelle said "yes" she received and wore a beautiful three sunflower corsage.

One of Michelle's favorite foods is glazed donuts from Dunkin' Donuts. In the back of the jewelry store was a display of glazed donuts along with a bottle of champagne, flutes for the jewelry store staff and two new Waterford flutes for Michelle and me. The entire donut display was accented with lime green Lifesavers. We all toasted to our engagement and enjoyed a donut.

Over the months Michelle would mention things that she liked and did not like about various engagement rings. Since I was not able to find a ring that met those likes and dislikes I asked Jill and Ross at Morrow-Farrar Jewelers in Camp Hill to hand make a ring for Michelle. Next to Michelle's ring sat two special items. One was a card from me to her and one was a blue three ring binder. This "Ring Book" contains all of the pictures, drawings and notes that were involved in the making of her ring. There was even some gold dust from her ring sprinkled on the inside of the book.

At 4:50 on Friday I call the jewelry store to see if all the customers were gone, if the displays were set up, if there was someone on the look out for us and if Michelle's favorite song was playing on the radio. All was a go...so I led Michelle to the truck and away we went...the rest is history!

A huge THANK YOU to all those who took an active part in making this moment special!
